GTA 6 on Mobile, PC, PS4 and Cloud: Can You Play It?
The short answer
No. GTA 6 is on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only: no Android, iPhone, PC, PS4 or Xbox One version, and no cloud streaming confirmed. What works, what's fake.

No, you cannot play GTA 6 on a phone, a PC, a PS4 or an Xbox One. Rockstar lists two platforms, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and the game launches on both on November 19, 2026. There is no GTA 6 APK, no iPhone app and no PC download, and no cloud service has confirmed it will stream the game.
One thing does work: Remote Play, which streams the game from a console you own. The PlayStation Store lists GTA 6 as Remote Play supported, so a PS5 with the game installed can send it to a phone, tablet, PC or PlayStation Portal. Below is every device, what each company has said, and what to do instead.
Every device at a glance
| Device | Can you play GTA 6? | Status and source |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 and PS5 Pro | Yes, from November 19 | Confirmed: Rockstar Support; the PlayStation Store marks it PS5 Pro Enhanced |
| Xbox Series X and Series S | Yes, from November 19 | Confirmed: Rockstar Support and the Xbox Store |
| PC (Steam, Epic, Rockstar Launcher) | No version | Not announced: Rockstar Support lists consoles only |
| Android phones and tablets | No version; every APK is fake | Not announced: Rockstar lists PS5 and Xbox only |
| iPhone and iPad | No version | Not announced: Rockstar lists PS5 and Xbox only |
| PS4 | No | Confirmed: PlayStation says "not available for PS4" |
| Xbox One | No | Confirmed: the Xbox Store lists Xbox Series X|S only |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | No version | Not announced: Rockstar lists PS5 and Xbox only |
| PlayStation Portal | Only by Remote Play from your PS5 | Confirmed: the PlayStation Store lists "Remote Play supported" |
| Phone, tablet or PC as a remote screen | Only from your own console | Confirmed for PS5 by the PlayStation Store; the Xbox listing does not say |
| Cloud streaming (Xbox Cloud Gaming, PS Plus Premium) | Not confirmed | Conflicting reports; see the tracker below |
GTA 6 on Android and iPhone: no mobile version
Rockstar has announced no GTA 6 for Android, iPhone or iPad. Its support page lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, nothing else. If a phone app or a website calls itself GTA 6, it is not from Rockstar.
Rockstar does publish real Grand Theft Auto games on phones, which is where some of the confusion comes from. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is on Google Play under the developer name Rockstar Games, and the Definitive Edition trilogy (GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas) came to Netflix members on phones in December 2023. Those are older games, and none of them is GTA 6.
GTA 6 on PC: not announced
There is no PC version, so there are no PC system requirements either. Any "minimum requirements" table you see for GTA 6 on PC is made up, because Rockstar has not published one.
The latest word came from Take-Two's chief executive, Strauss Zelnick, at the company's shareholder meeting on September 17. He said Take-Two aims to launch "for any platforms for which there's a meaningful audience", and that "the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time" (GamesRadar+, PC Gamer). That is a hint, not a date. Our PC release date tracker logs every claim with its source.
Cloud streaming: who said what, and when
GTA 6 cloud streaming is not confirmed. On October 11, 2026, neither store listing showed a cloud option, and Rockstar, Take-Two and Sony had said nothing about it. Here is every statement we found, oldest first.
| Date | Who | What they said | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| September 3, 2026 | Xbox Wire | From November, Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and Essential include 15, 10 and 5 hours of cloud play a month, and players can buy more hours to stream eligible games they own. Cloud can also give Xbox One owners eligible Series X|S games | General Xbox policy. GTA 6 is not named |
| October 6 | The Verge | Reported that Xbox had secured exclusive streaming rights to GTA 6, so Xbox Cloud Gaming could stream it at launch | A report, corrected the same day |
| October 6 to 7 | Matthew Ball, Xbox chief strategy officer, on X | "We are looking forward to launching GTAVI on XBOX November 19, though the game will not be streaming exclusively or to PC." | No exclusive deal and no streaming to PC. He did not say whether Xbox consoles will stream it |
| October 6 | The Verge, correction | "Xbox has clarified that its streaming deal isn't exclusive and Grand Theft Auto VI won't be streamed to PCs." The Verge reads the deal as streaming to Xbox consoles only | The Verge's reading, not a Microsoft statement |
| October 9 | GamesIndustry.biz, opinion | "It's not actually entirely clear what streaming options will be available for players at or around launch." | An editor's view |
| October 11 | The two store listings, read by us | The Xbox Store lists two capabilities: single player and Optimized for Xbox Series X|S. The PlayStation Store lists Remote Play. Neither lists cloud streaming | No store offers it yet |
The PlayStation detail matters. Other PS5 games on the PlayStation Store carry the line "PS5 and PS Portal cloud streaming supported only with Premium subscription". GTA 6's listing does not, so PS Plus Premium cloud streaming is not on offer for it today.
Our take: do not pay for a cloud subscription, or a cloud-only device, expecting to stream GTA 6 on day one. Ball ruled out PC, nobody has confirmed phones or browsers, and the most anyone has reported is streaming to Xbox consoles, which helps Xbox One owners at best. If that changes, the store listings will show it first, and we will add it to this table the day it appears.
PlayStation Portal and Remote Play: the way that works
Remote Play is not cloud gaming. Your own console runs GTA 6 and streams the picture to another screen in your home or over the internet. The PlayStation Store lists GTA 6 as "Remote Play supported". Xbox says its Remote Play works with games installed on your console, but the GTA 6 Xbox listing does not mention it either way, so treat the Xbox column as the general rule, not a GTA 6 promise.
| PlayStation (PS Remote Play) | Xbox (Xbox Remote Play) | |
|---|---|---|
| Console you need | A PS5 with GTA 6 installed, on or in rest mode | An Xbox Series X|S with GTA 6 installed, on or in sleep mode |
| Screens | PlayStation Portal, iPhone and iPad (iOS 14 or later), Android phones and tablets (Android 9 or later), Windows 10 or later, Mac (macOS Catalina or later) | Android 6.0 or later, iOS 15.1 or later, Windows 10 and 11 |
| Connection | At least 5 Mbps, 15 Mbps or faster recommended | 5 GHz Wi-Fi or mobile data with 10 Mbps down |
| Subscription | None: Sony says Portal and Remote Play do not need PS Plus | None for Remote Play |
The PlayStation Portal costs $249.99 in the US since April 2, 2026 (PlayStation Blog). On its own it plays nothing: Sony describes it as a remote player for games installed on your PS5, plus cloud streaming of selected games for PS Plus Premium members, and GTA 6 is not one of those yet.
GTA 6 on PS4: no, and what to do instead
PlayStation's own page says GTA 6 is "only playable on PS5" and "not available for PS4", and the PlayStation Store listing names PS5 as the only platform. There is no PS4 version and no PS4 to PS5 upgrade, because the game was never made for PS4. To play it on PlayStation you need a PS5.
These are the US list prices of every console that runs GTA 6, from Sony's and Microsoft's own price announcements:
| Console | US list price | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Xbox Series S, 512 GB | $499.99 | The cheapest way to play GTA 6. About 364 GB of usable space, so storage will be tight |
| Xbox Series S, 1 TB | $599.99 | Same console, twice the storage |
| PS5 Digital Edition | $599.99 | No disc drive, which GTA 6 does not need: the boxed game is a download code |
| PS5 with disc drive | $649.99 | Plays your PS4 discs |
| Xbox Series X Digital | $749.99 | |
| Xbox Series X | $799.99 | |
| PS5 Pro | $899.99 | The PlayStation Store marks GTA 6 PS5 Pro Enhanced; 2 TB of storage |
Sony set its prices on April 2, 2026. Microsoft raised US console prices on August 1 by $100 for 512 GB models and $150 for 1 TB models (Xbox Wire); the resulting prices are from Pure Xbox's breakdown. Prices in other countries differ.
Our take: if you only want GTA 6 and you are on a budget, the Series S is the cheapest door in, but check our download and storage guide first, because a 512 GB console leaves little room. If you have a PS4 library and PlayStation friends, the PS5 Digital Edition keeps both: Sony says the overwhelming majority of PS4 games play on PS5. The disc model only earns its extra $50 if you own PS4 or PS5 discs.
GTA 6 on Xbox One: no, and the cloud question
The Xbox Store lists GTA 6 as playable on Xbox Series X|S, with no Xbox One entry. The Xbox One cannot run it.
The one open door is the cloud. Xbox says cloud gaming can give Xbox One owners some games built for Series X|S, but only eligible ones, and the GTA 6 store listing shows no cloud option. If you own an Xbox One today, the safe plan is a Series S or Series X: Xbox says thousands of Xbox One games are backward compatible on Series X, with your progress, achievements and friends list carried over.
Fake GTA 6 APKs and downloads: how to spot one
Because millions of people without a PS5 or Xbox want the game, fake GTA 6 apps and downloads are everywhere. Here is what researchers have actually found in them.
- A fake "GTA 6 Beta" Android app. NordVPN's threat intelligence team found an app with Rockstar branding and a short intro video and no game inside. Its "Download OBB" button opens the browser and sends you through redirects to a site with a history of spreading malware, while the app shows full-screen ads and fake "human verification" steps that lead to paid subscriptions.
- Paid "VIP early access". Malwarebytes found sites charging about $250 in cryptocurrency for early access to GTA 6. There is no game behind them.
- Fake PC demos and "leaked" copies. These carry password stealers and worse; our free GTA 6 page covers the PC scams in detail.
A GTA 6 download is fake if it does any of these:
- Offers GTA 6 for Android, iPhone or PC, or any version before November 19, 2026.
- Calls itself a beta or early access. Rockstar has announced no public beta.
- Asks you to download extra "OBB" or "data" files from a website.
- Asks you to complete a survey, a "human verification" or a subscription to unlock it.
- Asks you to allow installs from unknown sources on Android, or to install a configuration profile on an iPhone.
- Asks for your PlayStation, Xbox or Rockstar password, or for payment in crypto or gift cards.
The only places to get GTA 6 are the PlayStation Store, the Xbox Store, and boxed codes from real retailers, which work on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only.
If you already installed a fake GTA 6 app
- Uninstall it. On Android, if Google Play Protect warns you, Google says to tap the notification, then tap Uninstall.
- Check that Play Protect is on. In the Play Store app, tap your profile icon, then Play Protect, then Settings, and turn on Scan apps with Play Protect.
- Take back permissions from anything you do not recognize: Settings, Apps, the app, Permissions.
- On iPhone or iPad, remove unknown profiles. Apple's steps: Settings, General, VPN and Device Management, select the profile, tap Delete Profile, then restart.
- Change your passwords. If you typed a PlayStation, Xbox, Rockstar or email password into the app or its site, change it and turn on two-step verification. Apple gives the same advice for accounts entered on a scam site.
- If you paid, contact your bank or card issuer about the charge.
After that, the honest route to GTA 6 on a phone is the one above: a console, plus Remote Play.
Questions people ask
Is there a GTA 6 APK for Android?
No. Rockstar lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as the only platforms, and has announced no Android version. Every GTA 6 APK is fake, and security researchers have found adware and malware dressed up as one.
Can I play GTA 6 on my phone?
Only as a screen for a console you own. The PlayStation Store lists Remote Play support, so a PS5 with GTA 6 installed can stream it to the PS Remote Play app on a phone. There is no phone version and no confirmed cloud streaming.
Can I play GTA 6 on PlayStation Portal?
Yes, through Remote Play from your own PS5 with the game installed. Cloud streaming on Portal, which needs PS Plus Premium, is not listed for GTA 6.
Will GTA 6 be on Xbox Cloud Gaming?
Not confirmed. The Verge reported a streaming deal, then Xbox's Matthew Ball said the game would not stream exclusively or to PC. The Xbox Store lists no cloud capability for GTA 6.
Can I play GTA 6 on PS4 or Xbox One?
No. PlayStation says GTA 6 is not available for PS4, and the Xbox Store lists Xbox Series X|S only. The cheapest console that runs it in the US is the Xbox Series S.
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
No PC version is announced. Take-Two's chief said in September that PC is becoming more important to the company, which is not an announcement.
