GTA 6 Weapons
Image: Rockstar Games
Rockstar has named three GTA 6 weapons so far, and all of them come from its edition announcements: Jason's Girardi ES9 pistol and Lucia's Klose K17 pistol, each with an engraved Ultimate Edition version, and a pair of palm-tree revolvers called the Hawk and Little Morgan. A fourth, the Moreland 850 shotgun, was read off An Extended Look by IGN and GTABase. Each one is listed below with its source.
Where guns come from
- Ammu-Nation is back. Rockstar's Ultimate Edition announcement says the Hawk and Little Morgan revolvers are found at Ammu-Nation stores as Jason and Lucia's story progresses, so stock seems to grow with the story. Trailer 2 shows Phil's Ammu-Nation.
- The Ultimate Edition adds the engraved pistols and the revolvers. Standard Edition owners can buy the upgrade separately at any time (Rockstar Support).
- The Vintage Vice City Pack, for digital purchases made before launch day ends and physical pre-orders while stocks last, includes an exclusive weapon pattern: a cosmetic, not a new gun.
- Your car's trunk can hold weapons and a change of clothes, so the gun you need for a job can wait in the getaway car (IGN).
How fights change
IGN watched Rob Nelson play and reports that you can now put people down with a shot to an arm or a leg, shoot a weapon out of someone's hand, or make some people run by aiming without firing. Ordinary people in Leonida carry guns too. Our breakdown of what each change means, and our take on why the gun list matters less than it used to, are further down this page.
What to do on day one
Keep your first gun cheap and your trunk stocked. Police track your outfit and car, so a clean change of clothes and a spare weapon in the trunk will get you out of more trouble than a bigger gun. And try a non-lethal shot before a lethal one: a fight that ends with nobody dead is less likely to escalate.

Revolvers
Hawk and Little Morgan revolvers
Confirmed
A his-and-hers pair of revolvers with palm-tree grips, one of the Ultimate Edition's extras. Rockstar's screenshots show both.
- Unlock
- Ultimate Edition, or the Ultimate Edition Upgrade
Our take: these are the only Ultimate Edition weapons with something practical attached. Rockstar's announcement gives them a "high-performance scope" and says they are "found at Ammu-Nation stores as Jason and Lucia's story progresses" (IGN, TheSixthAxis), so they are not day-one guns. The name invites two readings. GTABase says Morgan nods to Red Dead Redemption 2's Arthur Morgan, and Kotaku notes that the scoped revolver copies Vice City Stories' Equalizer, with serial numbers that match the release dates of Vice City Stories and Vice City. Outlets disagree on the real gun: GTABase says a Smith & Wesson Model 629, GameSpot a Colt Python. "Sourced from the Vercetti Estate" is a nod, not lore: Rockstar said in 2011 that PS2-era characters don't exist in the HD games (IGN).
Pistols
Girardi ES9
Confirmed
Jason's pistol. The Ultimate Edition adds an engraved, personalized version of it, which is how Rockstar's store listing names it.
- Unlock
- The engraved version comes with the Ultimate Edition
Our take: Jason's ES9 is the most personal item in the Ultimate Edition. GamesRadar reads "Sua Sponte" engraved on it, Latin for "of one's own accord" (GameSpot) and the motto of the US Army's Ranger Regiment, which ties the gun to the Army stint in Jason's profile. GTABase matches the design to the Beretta 92FS and lists Girardi as a new maker. As far as Rockstar has said, the engraving changes how the gun looks, not how it shoots, so treat it as a story touch rather than an edge in fights. GamesRadar also spots Jason holding a Beretta-style pistol in earlier screenshots; whether that is the same gun, Rockstar has not said. More on Jason Duval.
Pistols
Klose K17
Confirmed
Lucia's pistol. Like Jason's Girardi ES9, it gets an engraved Ultimate Edition version, named on Rockstar's store listing.
- Unlock
- The engraved version comes with the Ultimate Edition
Our take: the K17 is Lucia's signature sidearm and probably the pistol Lucia players will see most; one of Rockstar's screenshots shows her holding it as she faces an armed intruder (GamesRadar). GTABase reads the design as the Glock 17, with some SIG Sauer P320, and calls Klose a new brand. That fits a wider pattern IGN noticed in the Extended Look: GTA 6 leans on fictional gun makers, as it does for its cars. The Ultimate Edition version adds engraving, which GamesRadar describes as roses with Lucia's signature. Nothing Rockstar has said suggests it shoots any differently. What we can't tell yet is whether anyone can buy a K17 at Ammu-Nation, or only Lucia carries one. More on Lucia Caminos.
Shotguns
Moreland 850
Reported
A pump-action shotgun seen in An Extended Look. IGN and GTABase both read its name off the footage, and GTABase notes it is new to the series.
Our take: the Moreland 850 is one of the few GTA 6 guns we have seen used in play rather than only in art, which makes it one of the best clues to how gunfights will feel. In the Extended Look, Jason takes one from a fallen attacker during the stash house fight, and some of his hit markers turn yellow, which GamesRadar reads as non-lethal hits. That matches IGN's preview: you can shoot arms and legs to put people down without killing them, or shoot a weapon out of someone's hand. GTABase matches the design to the Remington 870 pump-action. Where and when you can buy one is not announced, so we will add the price and unlock on launch day.
Nothing matches these filters. Pick "All" on one of them.
What matters more than the gun list
Our take: in GTA 6, how you use a gun looks more important than which gun you carry. The weapons Rockstar has named so far are mostly cosmetic extras: engraved versions of Jason's and Lucia's pistols and a pair of palm-tree revolvers in the Ultimate Edition, and a weapon pattern in the pre-order bonus. None of them is a reason to buy an edition. The real changes are in IGN's report from Rockstar North's live demo: you can shoot an arm or a leg to put someone down without killing them, shoot a weapon out of a hand, scare some people off by aiming without firing, and keep guns in your car's trunk for a getaway. Combined with police who track your description, that points to a game that rewards controlled force over spraying bullets. Our advice for day one: don't spend early money on a big gun. Rockstar's Ultimate Edition announcement says the revolvers turn up at Ammu-Nation stores as the story progresses, which suggests stock grows over time, and a clean getaway is worth more than firepower.
What's new in GTA 6 combat, and what it means
| What IGN saw | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Shots to an arm or a leg put people down without killing them | Fewer bodies, and fewer reasons for a crime to escalate |
| You can shoot a weapon out of someone's hand | A way to end a fight in one shot |
| Aiming without firing can make some people flee | Some confrontations may never need a shot, or a police call |
| Ordinary people carry guns too | Don't assume a bystander is harmless |
| Guns and a spare outfit can live in your car's trunk | Park your getaway car before a job, not after |
| Slow-motion replays of your best shots from a cinematic angle | Borrowed from Red Dead Redemption 2, as IGN points out |
All from IGN's report on Rockstar North's live demo, none checked in the released game yet.
