GTA 6 News Today (October 6, 2026): Rockstar on Jason and Lucia

The biggest GTA 6 story of the last 48 hours is LOVE Magazine's Issue 27, which reached newsstands on October 5 with Jason and Lucia on the cover and a long interview with four people from Rockstar. Nothing changed on dates or prices: GTA 6 still launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with preloading from November 12.

LOVE Magazine's GTA 6 issue is out

LOVE, a fashion and culture title, built Issue 27 around GTA 6. It interviews Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson, narrative chief Rupert Humphries and game writers Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern and Alexa D'Agostino, alongside new Rockstar artwork and screenshots of the pair in quieter moments: a diner booth, a pool table, a night out. The focus is story and character rather than new gameplay systems.

Rockstar on Lucia, and her actress is still unnamed

D'Agostino said she drew on women she knows when writing Lucia, including her own mother, who grew up in Newark, close to Lucia's hometown of Liberty City. She said the aim was a lead who can stand next to Arthur Morgan and Niko Bellic. Gauvey-Kern praised the actress who plays Lucia for bringing a lot to the character, but did not name her. Rockstar still has not confirmed anyone who voices Jason or Lucia.

Raul is the mentor, and the dream is modest

Humphries said Rockstar needed an older mentor figure to bring Jason and Lucia into bigger jobs, and that is Raul Bautista's role. He also described the couple's version of the American Dream as small: a home for the family and loans paid off, not wild wealth.

Research trips with cops and gang members

Aaron Garbut told LOVE that research started with a small group driving from Miami through nearby towns and down the Florida Keys to Key West. Later trips went deeper, with the team traveling alongside police and gang members. On one shoot they flew low over the Everglades and ended the day hovering above a Beyoncé concert.

How Rockstar North builds a world this size

Nelson explained that the team works in eight-week milestones: pull agreed sections of the game together, review them, then set the next targets. Open-world writing director James Horton said Rockstar started a Los Angeles team whose only job is pedestrian dialogue. Rockstar also said its satire avoids copying real viral moments, because a long development cycle can make them feel dated.

The Brooklyn mural is still going up

A large GTA 6 mural of Jason and Lucia started appearing on October 1 at Wythe Avenue and North 11th Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Fans posted fresh progress photos on October 5, with the colour work still under way. Notebookcheck reports the same corner carried a GTA 5 mural in 2013.

GTA 6 made SNL

Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update on October 3 had Marcello Hernandez playing Jason in a mock debate with Mikey Day's Link from Zelda. A sketch on network TV six weeks before launch shows how far GTA 6 has crossed into the mainstream.
