GTA 6 has no PC version yet. What Take-Two's CEO has said about PC, how long GTA IV, GTA V and Red Dead 2 took to reach PC, and how to spot fake PC news.
There is no GTA 6 PC release date. Rockstar has only announced the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026, and the most Take-Two's CEO has said is that PC is "becoming more and more important" to the company.
If you only play on PC, here is where things stand, what the history of Rockstar ports suggests, and how to spot fake PC news.
What is confirmed
- Platforms at launch: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar's support page lists only those two, and so does the ESRB rating, which covers PS5 and Xbox Series and nothing else.
- No PS4 or Xbox One version. PlayStation's own page says the game is not available for PS4.
- No PC announcement, no PC store page, no system requirements. Rockstar has published none of these.
What Take-Two has actually said
At a short shareholder meeting on September 17, a stockholder asked Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick about the timing of PC launches. His answer, as reported by GamesRadar+ and Game Rant, was general rather than about GTA 6 by name. He said the company's strategy, over time, is to launch on any platform with "a meaningful audience", that this isn't always the case, and that the PC platform is becoming more important to the company over time.
That is the closest thing to a PC statement so far. It is not a confirmation. Earlier, Zelnick also explained the console-first launch by pointing to history: Rockstar has traditionally gone to consoles first.
How long Rockstar's PC ports have taken
Rockstar's last two big games both came to PC well after consoles:
| Game | Console launch | PC launch | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTA 5 | September 2013 | April 2015 | About 19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 2018 | November 2019 | A little over a year |
If GTA 6 follows the same pattern, a PC version would land somewhere in 2027 or 2028. Outlets have guessed at the window: GamesRadar+ suggests a gap of 12 to 18 months, and Polygon thinks late 2027 is possible but early 2028 is more likely. Those are estimates based on history, not leaks or announcements.
Why a PC version takes time
Two reasons come up again and again.
Performance work. Digital Foundry's analysis of the August Extended Look found the PS5 footage running at a steady 30 frames per second at around 1440p, with heavy ray tracing. Rockstar's Rob Nelson was reported by Flow Games as saying the console versions run at 30fps. Digital Foundry called a 60fps version "genuinely challenging" even on PC, because the game leans hard on the CPU for traffic, crowds and physics. A good PC version needs that work done properly.
Focus. A GTA 5 producer put it plainly to GamesRadar+: if you are working on one version, you are not working on something else. Shipping the console game first lets the team finish one version before splitting effort.
How to spot fake GTA 6 PC news
Until Rockstar posts on its Newswire, treat these as red flags:
- Any "system requirements" list. None exist. Any list of GPUs and RAM is invented.
- A GTA 6 Steam or Epic page. Search the store yourself. Do not click download links shared on social media.
- "PC version leaked" claims. Take-Two has been pursuing legal action against people sharing leaked GTA 6 material. A leaked build would not be a release date.
- Exact PC dates from countdown accounts. Rockstar announces dates through its own channels first.
What PC players can do now
- Play on console at launch, if you have access to a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. Both versions are single-player at launch.
- Wait and skip spoilers. The story is long: Rob Nelson's own playthrough took about 80 hours.
- Keep an eye on Take-Two's earnings calls. Take-Two's next quarterly results are expected in early November. The date was not announced as of October 5, and the company tends to talk platforms on these calls.
We will update this page the moment Rockstar or Take-Two says anything concrete about PC.
FAQ
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
Not announced. A PC version is widely expected because GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 both came to PC, but Rockstar has not confirmed one.
When will GTA 6 come out on PC?
No date exists. Based on past Rockstar ports, outlets estimate 2027 or 2028.
What are the GTA 6 PC system requirements?
Rockstar has not published any. Any requirements list you see is made up.
Will GTA 6 run at 60fps on PC?
Unknown. The console version was shown at 30fps, and Digital Foundry says 60fps would be demanding even on strong PCs.
Why isn't GTA 6 on PC at launch?
Take-Two has pointed to Rockstar's history of launching on consoles first. It has not said more than that.
