GTA 6 News Today (October 15, 2026): Launch Trailer

The short answer

Rockstar drops the GTA 6 Launch Trailer with a new Justice song and names the duo as score composers, and GTA 6 makes The Game Awards cutoff by a day.

The GTA 6 news today is the Launch Trailer. Rockstar released it without warning on October 15, with a new song by Justice, the French duo it now names as the composers of the game's score. GTA 6 has also made The Game Awards' eligibility cutoff by a single day. Nothing changed on dates or prices: GTA 6 still launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with preloading from November 12.

The Launch Trailer is out

Rockstar posted the Launch Trailer on its YouTube channel and GTA VI site on Thursday, 35 days before launch. It runs about 90 seconds, was captured on PS5, and is a story trailer rather than gameplay. Jason narrates his past: "I got in some trouble in the army. Didn't leave on the best of terms," as IGN and Kotaku both transcribe it. IGN and Eurogamer both point to an ankle tag on Lucia, which fits her Rockstar bio's spell in prison. It is Rockstar's fourth GTA 6 video and is not called Trailer 3. Our Launch Trailer page has the details and how it compares with the other three.

Justice wrote the score

The trailer debuts "Flower in a Hurricane" by Justice, featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Rockstar's trailer page calls Justice the "original score composers", the first time it has said who wrote GTA 6's score. The song is now the ninth single on Rockstar's music page for Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album (34 tracks, out November 19), and VGC and Kotaku report Rockstar confirmed it is on the album. Our radio hub and song page are updated.

GTA 6 can win at The Game Awards this year

The Game Awards' rules say a game must be on sale by Friday, November 20, 2026 at 9 p.m. PT to be eligible this year, so GTA 6, out November 19, makes it by one day. The show is on December 10. Eurogamer notes that the cutoff has moved by only a day or two from year to year, so this is not a special exception. Red Dead Redemption 2 won four awards in 2018, Eurogamer adds, and last year's record of nine belongs to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

GTA 5 leaves PS Plus on November 17

If you play GTA 5 through PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium, you have until November 17, two days before GTA 6 comes out. Sony is showing the notice on PS5 consoles, as IGN and Kotaku both report: "GTA 5 is available to play in the Game Catalog for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members, but only until November 17," it reads, followed by a GTA 6 pre-order link.

What it means for players

Our take: the trailer adds mood rather than facts, and the Extended Look is still the video to watch for how GTA 6 plays. Naming Justice is the bigger news: a known act on the score means the music outside the radio stations is getting attention too. The Game Awards cutoff is tight, three weeks between launch and the show, so voters will judge GTA 6 on its first few weeks rather than a full playthrough, and its launch reception will shape December's show either way. If you were finishing GTA 5 on PS Plus, plan around November 17: after that you would have to buy it, which makes little sense days before its successor arrives.

Not confirmed

  • Miami Beach branding. GTA BOOM reports GTA 6 beach umbrellas and chairs on South Beach, based on photos posted by reporter Joel Franco. No local news outlet or Rockstar has reported it yet, so we can't confirm that the branding planned from October 15 has started.
  • A later end for the Glasgow tribunal, with closing dates on November 17 and 18. Still Eurogamer's report alone.
  • The PC window and GTA 6 online in 2027. Those come from GamesBeat and Bloomberg, not from Rockstar or Take-Two.
  • Who plays Jason and Lucia, and a Switch 2 version. Rockstar has announced neither.
