GTA 6 Online Crossplay: PS5, Xbox and PC Explained

The short answer

No crossplay is announced for GTA 6, because no online mode is. GTA Online has never let PlayStation, Xbox and PC players play together. Sources inside.

No crossplay has been announced for GTA 6 Online, because GTA 6 Online itself has not been announced. At launch on November 19, 2026, GTA 6 is a single-player game on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so there is nothing for PlayStation and Xbox players to share.

What is known is how Rockstar handles it in GTA Online today, and that history is not encouraging for anyone hoping to play across consoles.

GTA 6 at launch: nothing to cross-play

The PlayStation Store lists GTA 6 as 1 player and the Xbox Store lists it as single player. Rockstar Support lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as the only platforms, with no PC version. Crossplay and cross-progression only become questions once Rockstar announces an online mode.

How GTA Online handles it today

Who Can they play together in GTA Online?
PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players No
Console and PC players No
PC players on Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Rockstar launcher Yes

Reported by GGRecon and by Mein-MMO, which re-checked its guide in July 2026. Rockstar has not announced any plan to change it.

Cross-progression: your character stays on its platform family

Rockstar Support is clear about GTA Online profiles today. You can migrate once from PS4 or Xbox One to PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, but "profiles cannot be migrated between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S or from PlayStation or Xbox console families to PC". If you plan to switch consoles for GTA 6, assume anything tied to an online mode stays where you bought it until Rockstar says otherwise. More on moving characters on our character transfer page.

What would change this

An announcement from Rockstar of an online mode, and then its platform details. A PC version would add a third question, PC with consoles, and no PC version is announced yet; our PC tracker follows that. Our crossplay rumor check will move the day Rockstar says anything.

Our take: we would not count on crossplay. Rockstar keeps PlayStation, Xbox and PC players apart in GTA Online today, and does not even let a character move between PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so a brand new online mode would be a big change of habit. If you and your friends want to play GTA 6 Online together on day one of it, the safe choice is the same console family. That advice changes the moment Rockstar announces otherwise.
