GTA 6 RP: FiveM, Roleplay Servers and What Is Real

Rockstar has not announced any roleplay mode, RP servers or FiveM support for GTA 6. What is confirmed is that Cfx.re, the team behind the FiveM and RedM roleplay platforms, has been part of Rockstar since August 2023, which is why many players expect roleplay to matter to GTA 6 one day.

For now GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 as a single-player game on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and the roleplay scene stays on GTA 5.

FiveM's maker is part of Rockstar

On August 11, 2023, Rockstar announced on its Newswire that Cfx.re had become part of Rockstar Games. Its post said Rockstar's creative community had "found new ways to expand the possibilities of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, particularly through the creation of dedicated roleplay servers", and that Rockstar had widened its policy on mods to include roleplay creators. Game World Observer notes the deal's terms were not disclosed.

Cfx.re's own announcement was more careful about the future. It said day-to-day operations would not noticeably change, and added: "our partnership with Rockstar Games is focused on our FiveM and RedM platforms. So please, do not ask us about the next GTA!"

Why there is no GTA 6 RP at launch

FiveM is a modification framework for GTA 5 on PC. Its own site says offering it on consoles "is not feasible", because it uses mechanisms "only available on the PC platform". GTA 6 is a console game for now: Rockstar Support lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and both store listings describe a single-player game. So the two roads to GTA 6 roleplay, a Rockstar online mode with roleplay in mind or a PC version that community tools can build on, are both unannounced. We leave out claims about secret roleplay projects or hiring that trace back to leaks or deleted posts.

Our take: roleplay looks like part of Rockstar's long game. It brought the team behind the biggest roleplay platform in-house, said why in its own words, and keeps adding creator tools to GTA Online. None of that is a GTA 6 announcement, though, and FiveM's own makers declined to talk about the next GTA. On consoles at launch, expect no roleplay at all. If RP is your main reason to play, keep an eye on two dates: a PC version and Rockstar's first online announcement for GTA 6.
