GTA 6 News Today (October 12, 2026): Miami-Dade Pushback
The short answer
Miami-Dade commissioners balk at a Rockstar deal for the airport, port and transit, while the county already earns $975,000 from a Vice City arena sign.

The GTA 6 news today comes from Miami, not from Rockstar: Miami-Dade County commissioners pushed back on a plan to let Rockstar turn the airport, the port and the transit system into Vice City installations, and the vote on it was put off. Rockstar has posted nothing new since its music page added two album singles on October 9. Nothing changed on dates or prices: GTA 6 still launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with preloading from November 12.
Miami-Dade commissioners push back on a bigger Vice City deal
At the county commission's October 6 meeting, several commissioners objected to Mayor Daniella Levine Cava's staff negotiating a marketing deal with Rockstar worth more than $1 million, the Miami Herald and The Miamian report. Both outlets say the plan would put Vice City installations at Miami International Airport, PortMiami and the county's transit system. "We're depicting Miami like a murder capital," Commissioner René Garcia said, as the Herald quotes him.
The measure, sponsored by commission chair Anthony Rodriguez, did not look to have the votes to pass, both outlets report, so Commissioner Oliver Gilbert, who backs the talks, used a procedural move to delay the vote to the next meeting. That leaves the deal neither approved nor dead.
Both reports also explain how one Vice City sign is already up. The mayor can sign county deals under $1 million without a commission vote, and that is how Rockstar got a $975,000 agreement for a Vice City sign on the roof of the Kaseya Center, the county-owned arena where the Miami Heat play. The Heat's "A Night in Vice City" game on November 18, the night before launch, is a separate deal with the team.

What it means for players
Our take: none of this touches the game. GTA 6 does not need Miami's permission to be set in Vice City, and a county vote cannot change what is on the disc or the November 19 date. What it does show is how far Rockstar is taking this launch into the real city: a paid sign on an arena roof, beach branding in Miami Beach, a themed Heat game, and now talks about the airport and the port. That is unusual for a game, and the pushback is just as telling: Vice City still stands for crime to some of the people who run the real place. If you are in Miami in November, expect to see the game around town, but treat the airport and transit plans as a maybe until the county votes. Not confirmed
- The Miami Beach start date. The beach chair and umbrella branding was expected from October 15. Reporter Joel Franco posted on X on October 12 that a Miami Beach city representative told him the agreement is not signed yet, that the September vote was to enter negotiations, and that October 15 is "most likely not" the start. That is one reporter's post, and the city has not announced a new date.
- The date of the county vote. The Miamian says the commission's next meeting, where the vote could return, is on October 20. We have not seen it on the county's published agenda yet.
- A Vice City Goodyear blimp. Photos of a Goodyear airship in Vice City colors are being shared by fans and GTA sites. No major outlet, Goodyear or Rockstar has confirmed it so far.
- How long the PS5 Pro shortage lasts, and what PS5 Pro Enhanced adds to GTA 6. Sony and Rockstar have not said.
- A Switch 2 or PC version. Neither is announced.
- Who plays Jason and Lucia, and a new trailer or TV ad. Rockstar has announced neither.
