GTA 6 News Today (October 30, 2026): Miami-Dade Deal
The short answer
Miami-Dade signs a $3.9 million GTA VI package with Rockstar for the airport, port and traffic boxes. Circana: 29% of US gamers plan to buy. Date holds.

Miami-Dade County has signed off on a GTA VI marketing package with Rockstar worth $3.9 million, bringing Vice City lighting to Miami International Airport and PortMiami and game-themed wraps to traffic signal boxes across the county. The county announced it on October 28 (Miami-Dade County, WLRN). Separately, the research firm Circana says 29% of US console and PC gamers plan to buy GTA 6, the highest purchase intent it has recorded for any game. Nothing changed on dates or prices: GTA 6 still launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with preloading from November 12.
Miami-Dade's $3.9 million Vice City package
Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced the package in a county press release dated October 28. The county values it at $3.9 million, and it has two parts: an agreement between the county and Rockstar Games, and separate ad purchases through the media companies that sell advertising space at the airport and on the county's transportation system. The release lists themed lighting at MIA and PortMiami, promotional displays on the airport walkways, and decorative wraps on selected traffic signal cabinets around the county. Rockstar pays to install, maintain and remove all of it, and the designs still need county approval under its content guidelines.
The $975,000 "Welcome to Vice City" sign on the Kaseya Center roof counts toward the $3.9 million. The county says it has put that money toward a public park at Dan Paul Plaza, behind the arena, a project WLRN says has been stuck for more than 30 years. "These agreements allow us to turn that excitement into additional revenue for our community," Levine Cava said in the release.
This settles a story we have followed since October 12, when commissioners objected to the talks and a vote was put off. The county's release does not mention a commission vote, and WLRN reports that several commissioners were unhappy that the mayor's administration went ahead without one. Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz and Commissioner J.C. Bermudez have criticized the campaign because the game depicts crime and violence against police (WLRN). Neither the release nor WLRN gives start or end dates, or says how many signal boxes get a wrap. No Rockstar statement came with the announcement.
The county also says the cities of Miami and Miami Beach have completed their own advertising arrangements with Rockstar. It gives no details, so the Miami Beach sign and sculpture plans reported from city records stay under Not confirmed below.

Circana: a record 29% of US gamers plan to buy GTA 6
Circana, the firm that tracks US game sales, said on October 28 that GTA 6 holds a 29% purchase intent among US console and PC gamers in its PlayerPulse tracker, "the highest level recorded for a video game." Its release does not give a sample size or survey dates. It adds that GTA 5 is the best-selling premium game in Circana's US history by units and dollars, and has been in the US top 20 every year from 2013 through 2025.
Circana analyst Mat Piscatella called GTA 6 "a rare cultural and commercial moment for the video game industry," and said that "many consumers who have yet to upgrade to a current-generation console may choose to purchase a PlayStation 5." That fits the September PS5 jump we covered on October 23, though Piscatella himself credited that one mainly to Wolverine.
Purchase intent is a survey answer, not a sale. Our own comparison: Sensor Tower estimated 6.08 million digital pre-orders worldwide by October 13 (October 20), and Circana's figure covers only people in the US who say they plan to buy at some point. The two measure different things and cannot be added up, but both point the same way. Our budget and sales page keeps every estimate in one place.

What it means for players
Our take: if you fly into Miami or sail from PortMiami in November or December, you will probably walk past Vice City on the way, and that is the whole player angle. Nothing in the county package touches the game, and no one has tied it to an in-game item or a code. What it does tell us is how unusual this launch is. A county government, two cities, an NBA team, a burger chain and a coffee roaster have all signed on, and the county's $3.9 million sits next to the up to about $4 million Miami Beach approved in September (Miami New Times). We said on October 12 that the airport plans were a maybe until the county acted; it has now acted, though without the commission vote some members wanted, so expect the argument to continue at county meetings. Circana's 29% is the more useful number for your launch week: demand that high is one more reason to preload on November 12 rather than buy on the day and wait for a full download.
