Pool tables are back as an activity. Rockstar named billiards in Game Informer's cover story, and IGN's preview lists pool among the things to do.

What we know
Pool is in GTA 6. Billiards is on the list of side activities Rockstar shared in Game Informer's cover story (IGN, VICE), and IGN's preview from Rockstar North lists "playing pool" among the activities it saw during Rob Nelson's demo. Dexerto also picked out pool in its list of side activities glimpsed in Trailer 2, back in May 2025.
Rockstar hasn't said how pool plays: whether it is a full physics minigame, whether you can bet on games, or where the tables are.
Why pool may matter more than it looks
GTA 6's relationship system gives small activities a job. IGN's preview says Jason and Lucia's bond grows through time spent together outside missions, naming exploring, shopping, hair salons, exercising and robberies, and VICE reports that some activities work as dates for the couple. Rockstar has not put pool on that list in so many words, but a bar game for two fits it well.
The Extended Look shows other games too. IGN spotted backyard wrestling and basketball, so pool is one of several small games rather than the only one.
Compared with GTA 4
Pool has been a GTA hangout activity before. In GTA 4, it was one of the things Niko could do with friends like Roman, alongside bowling and darts, as IGN's 2008 friends guide lists. GTA 6 swaps a cast of friends for one partner, so pool is more likely to be a couple's night out than a mates' outing.
| GTA 4 | GTA 6 | |
|---|---|---|
| Pool in the game | Yes, a friend activity | Yes, named by Rockstar |
| Who you play with | Friends such as Roman | Unknown; Lucia or Jason likely |
| Feeds a relationship system | Friendship ratings | A couple's bond, per IGN, though pool isn't named |
Our take: pool won't be a reason to buy GTA 6, but it may be one of the easiest ways to look after Jason and Lucia's relationship between jobs. If it works like the activities IGN describes, inviting your partner for a game should count as time together, and it is lower risk than a joint robbery. We'd play it early to learn how the relationship meter responds. If Rockstar lets you bet money on games, it could also be a small, steady earner; that is unconfirmed.
What to watch for at launch
- Whether pool counts as a date or a relationship activity.
- Whether you can bet money on games.
- Which bars or homes have tables.
