GTA 6 News Today (November 4, 2026): 7.7M Pre-Orders

The short answer

Sensor Tower now estimates 7.71 million GTA 6 digital pre-orders worth about $751 million, 74% on PS5, and Xbox gives away a Series X inside an alligator.

The analytics firm Sensor Tower now estimates that GTA 6 has 7.71 million digital pre-orders worth about $751 million, 74% of them on PlayStation, up from 6.08 million and $594 million in its October 13 read (Polygon, GamesRadar+). Separately, Xbox is giving away a working Xbox Series X built into a five-foot alligator, in a US sweepstakes that ends November 10. The release date and prices did not change: GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026, at $79.99 and $99.99 in the US.

Sensor Tower: 7.71 million pre-orders, about $751 million

Polygon and GamesRadar+ both reported the new figures on November 4 from Sensor Tower's weekly GTA VI sales tracker: about 7.71 million copies and an estimated $751 million in revenue, with PlayStation at 74% and Xbox Series X|S at 26%. Neither outlet gives the date the read was taken, and the tracker's numbers do not render for our fetcher, so we date it to the reports. Like Sensor Tower's earlier reads, it is a model of digital store sales, not a count from Rockstar, and boxed copies are not in it. Rockstar and Take-Two have published no pre-order numbers.

Here is how the estimate has grown, with our own arithmetic in the last column:

Sensor Tower read Pre-orders Revenue PlayStation / Xbox Revenue per copy (our maths)
Through July 20 About 4.08 million $395 million by early August About 77% / 23% Not comparable (different cut-off dates)
Mid-August 4.3 million Not given 77% / 23% Not given
October 13 6.08 million About $594 million 74% / 26% About $98
Reported November 4 7.71 million About $751 million 74% / 26% About $97

Since the October 13 read, that is about 1.63 million more copies and about $157 million more revenue, a rise of roughly a quarter on both counts. About $97 a copy sits close to the $99.99 Ultimate Edition price, which fits Sensor Tower's mid-August finding that 89% of pre-orders were for the Ultimate Edition (GamesIndustry.biz). Our budget and sales page now carries the new row.

For scale, as our own comparison: $751 million is about 75% of the $1 billion GTA 5 took in its first three days in 2013 (Take-Two), and about half of the $1.5 billion that Rockstar told Bloomberg GTA 6 did not cost more than. Those are different kinds of numbers (an outside estimate against a company figure and a ceiling), so treat the comparison as a sense of size, not a race.

Xbox gives away an alligator Series X

Xbox Wire announced the "XBOX Series X-BITE" on November 3: a working Xbox Series X inside a custom alligator more than five feet long, with an illuminated Xbox button showing through its body and a controller with bite marks in its jaws. John Nolan Studio built it. There is only one, and the sweepstakes runs from 9 AM Pacific on November 3 to 11:59 PM Pacific on November 10, open to legal residents of the 50 US states and DC aged 18 or over. To enter, follow @XBOX on X, Instagram or TikTok, repost the sweepstakes post and add #XbiteSweepstakes, with a public account.

The post opens "This November, XBOX is heading to Florida" and never names GTA 6, Rockstar or Vice City, as Kotaku points out. Kotaku reads it as Xbox working around Sony's marketing deal for the game, and Polygon ties the stunt to the GTA 6 launch. GTA 6 still comes to Xbox Series X|S on November 19, with the Xbox preload opening at 12 AM GMT on November 10 (Rockstar Support).

What it means for players

Our take: the pre-order number does not change what you pay or when you play, but it tells you something useful about launch week. Nearly 8 million digital copies queued for one release window is a lot of people downloading up to 212 GB at once, so the practical advice from yesterday stands and gets stronger: let the preload run from November 10 rather than downloading on launch night, when store and network load will be at its peak. Treat Sensor Tower's figures as a direction, not a result. They are a model, they miss boxed copies, and no other firm publishes a comparable count to check them against. We would not expect Take-Two to give a number on November 9 either; in August Strauss Zelnick told analysts "we haven't sold one unit yet. You can cancel a preorder." The first real figure will most likely come in a press release after launch. As for the alligator: a fun giveaway for US Xbox owners, nothing more.

Not confirmed

  • PS5 Pro features. PC Guide reports that a PlayStation France page briefly listed PSSR upscaling and "Advanced Ray Tracing" for GTA 6 on PS5 Pro before it was removed, known only from a screenshot shared on X. No reputable outlet has seen the page, and neither Sony nor Rockstar has said what PS5 Pro adds.
  • Review copies and a November 18 embargo. Still only an insider and Insider Gaming.
  • A day-one patch. Rockstar has not mentioned one, or whether it would come on top of the 212 GB.
  • Travis Scott x Nike Air Force 1 shoes for November 19. Still from a sneaker leaker; Nike, Rockstar and Scott have announced nothing.
  • The PC window and who plays Jason and Lucia. Rockstar has announced neither.
