Of the six songs released early, on September 17, this one carries the longest credit, ending with French DJ-producer Etienne de Crecy.
The song and its chart run
Billboard calls it a bilingual collaboration, and covers it in the same chart report as "Macacoa 2000". In its first tracking week it drew 1.5 million US streams and debuted at No. 16 on Hot Latin Songs, No. 8 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and No. 2 on Hot Latin Pop Songs. For every act except Fred again.., it was a first appearance on Hot Latin Songs, and for de Crecy it was his first appearance on any Billboard chart (Billboard).
Pitchfork's review of another single summed up the album's spread with PinkPantheress in mind: music "for the partygoers" in Vice City's clubs and beaches.
What it says about Vice City's nightlife
Five artists and two languages on one dance track is a statement about what kind of city Vice City is meant to be: international, nocturnal and mixed. It also lines up with the dance music in the Extended Look, where Aluna and Jayda G's "Mine O' Mine" plays in a Megamundo hallway as Jason walks to a meeting (Game Rant's timestamps).
Our take: if you want to guess what Vice City's nightlife will sound like, start here. A dance track that debuted on a Latin pop chart is close to what you would expect from a club scene modeled on Miami's, though that link is ours and not Rockstar's. Billboard's numbers also show the album reaching listeners who may never play the game. Whether "Sexy Magic" plays on a station or in a club in GTA 6 is not confirmed; we will add it after launch.
