What the signs say

Highway signs are the closest thing to a map Rockstar has handed out. Two sets have appeared:

Trailer Sign text Source
Trailer 2, 0:38 "VCI Airport", with a jet coming in low overhead Rockstar
Trailer 2, 0:38 Ambrosia and Downtown Rockstar
Trailer 2, 0:38 "SW 9th Ave, Southside, Peacock Bay" Rockstar
Trailer 1 "Kelly County, VCI Airport 404 West" Miami New Times
Trailer 1 "Catalan Blvd 3" Miami New Times
Trailer 1 "Stockyard/Downtown" Miami New Times

What each sign gives away

  • VCI reads as Vice City International. Miami New Times calls it "an obvious riff on Miami International Airport", and GTA BOOM places the giant VICE letters beside a runway there.
  • Kelly County is, by Miami New Times' reading, the game's Miami-Dade County.
  • Catalan Blvd is a take on Biscayne Boulevard, Miami New Times argues: Biscayne comes from Spain's Bay of Biscay, and Catalan swaps in another Spanish region.
  • Ambrosia on a Vice City highway sign suggests a direct road from the city to one of the six regions Rockstar named in Game Informer's cover story.
  • Stockyard is the neighbourhood that later turned up in the Ultimate Edition as home to Electric Fang Tattoo and Stock 305.
  • Southside and Peacock Bay are Vice City districts nobody has seen in detail yet.

The real airport nearly got the name

Life is copying the trailer. WLRN reported in September 2026 that Miami-Dade County's administration had proposed temporarily rebranding parts of Miami International Airport as "Vice City Airport", alongside Vice City-branded Metromover trains, and that a county commissioner and the sheriff publicly opposed it.

Our take: these signs are the best early map clues in the trailers, and worth checking against our Leonida Map. The most useful one for players is the Ambrosia sign: a highway from Vice City to the industrial region means the drive inland is probably a straight run, not a maze. "Southside" also matters, since Rockstar's Ultimate Edition copy puts the PTT Youngin$ gang's compound in Southside Vice City (PlayStation Store). We expect most of these names to appear on the in-game map exactly as signed.

What to watch for at launch

  • Whether "404 West" really leads to VCI Airport.
  • Where Southside and Peacock Bay sit within Vice City.
  • Whether you can fly from VCI, or only around it.
